House Mountain Farm’s Riding Camp

HMF's Riding Camp is for girls and boys ages 7-16 years old who have an interest in horses and a desire to learn basic horsemanship. Our campers spend the morning with our school horses, grooming, bathing, tacking up and riding in lessons.

Each camper will be evaluated by our staff while riding on a lunge line in the arena. Riding at the walk, trot and canter will progress throughout the week. We create a fun atmosphere for campers to enjoy the thrill of riding independently through one of our meadows or along the trails on the last day of camp. We offer the opportunity for kids to get to know horses and all the wonderful things they can teach us while learning to ride and care for them.

2008 Summer Camp

Monday-Friday, 8am-12pm

~ Week I ~
May 26 - May 30

This is an introduction to jumping and requires that the riders have previous experience.  Riders who have already started jumping and want to increase their skills are also welcome this week.

Weeks II - IX

June 2-6
June 9-13
June 16-20
June 23-27
July 7-11
July 14-18
July 21-25

The remaining weeks of camp are for beginners. Campers learn about horse behavior, care, equipment and riding at the walk, trot and canter. House Mountain Farm's enthusiastic staff offer a friendly and casual environment to introduce kids to life at the barn and the joy of riding. Each week ends with an adventurous ride through the farm's pastures and wooded trails. The farm is a year round horse boarding, training and breeding facility.

There are several different types and breeds of horses, from big to small. The lessons are lead by Liz Green, a Certified Riding Instructor, who currently teaches the adult non-credit classes for the University of Tennessee.

Returning campers $220.00/week
A non-refundable $50.00 deposit required

New campers $250.00/week
A non-refundable $75.00 deposit required

Deposit is due before the 1st day of camp with registration/release form.  Sessions fill up quickly, so apply early to get the week(s) you want for your children!
